Weight Loss Frequently Asked Questions

Weight Loss Frequently Asked Questions
  • What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. It mimics the GLP-1 hormone that plays a role in appetite and digestion.

  • Do I Need to Diet?

There are no food restrictions on our Ellevate Weight Loss program. However, if you are not eating a healthy diet, you will not feel good while on this program. The healthier you eat, the better you will feel.

The compounded medication reduces your appetite and makes you feel fuller for longer periods of time. It also keeps you in “fat-burning” mode. Our compounded semaglutide helps target fat cells and regulate blood sugar, so you don’t have to worry about losing muscle mass or water weight loss as long as you’re eating plenty of protein and drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water.

While exercise is not mandatory, we recommend you incorporate exercise into your lifestyle because of the health benefits. If you aren’t used to exercising, walking is a perfect way to start! Movement is key to good health, and you may find exercising becomes more enjoyable as you start to lose weight.

Patients who eat a well-balanced diet and begin some form of exercise tend to lose more weight than those who do not change their current habits.

  • Is Semaglutide Safe? Are There Side Effects?

Our compounding pharmacy is FDA compliant and only sources the semaglutide base from an FDA approved wholesaler. Our pharmacy compounds the semaglutide base with NAD+, an important coenzyme central to energy metabolism. Our pharmacy does not use salt forms of semaglutide, including semaglutide sodium or semaglutide acetate.

The Ellevate Weight Loss program is a medically supervised approach designed to obtain safe and effective results, producing far fewer side effects than most other weight loss medications.

While some side effects may include gastrointestinal upset, including nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, or constipation, most patients do not experience any. We start our patients on a low dosage initially which helps with any potential side effects. If needed, we will prescribe you an anti-nausea medication.

As tolerated, dosages are increased every month until we reach the ideal dosage for our patient’s weight loss goals.

  • Why am I Having Trouble Losing Weight?

70% of adults over age 20 are considered overweight, resulting in weight-related medical issues. While some of these issues are attributed to low physical activity and unhealthy eating habits, additional factors including genetics, age, poor sleeping habits, stress, medications, and societal influences can significantly contribute to one’s inability to achieve and maintain healthy goals.

When used in conjunction with improved diet and exercise, our compounded semaglutide medication can facilitate weight loss results regardless of these factors.

  • What Labs Will I Needed Before I Start my Journey?

-CBC, CMP, TSH, A1C, Fasting Lipid Panel

(Labs must be obtained within the last 90 days)

  • Absolute Contraindications that Automatically Disqualify One from Starting?

-Pregnant or planning to become pregnant within 2 months

-Breastfeeding

-Diabetics on insulin

-Thyroid cancer

Our FDA compliant pharmacy compounds base form semaglutide with NAD+, and the compounded medication is injected subcutaneously (under the skin) with an insulin needle on the same day of each week, in the morning, with or without food. Insulin needles are extremely small, and the injection is painless.
